Thanks Fabris.
Unless I hear otherwise from the Board members, I will move ahead tomorrow morning and appoint Mr. Covezzi.

Flavio,
We totally agree.
This past year, a number of directors have actively worked with dedication to fixing a deteriorating situation, and others have taken more of an observing role, voting at board meetings when convenient. The “residency factor” was a somewhat irrelevant factor when measuring the actual work put in for the day-to-day building's management.
Re: the Freehold, we urgently need a financially savvy and trustworthy director that could contribute to the financial situation reassessment.
The Freehold company has been poorly managed in these past few years and now is the time to take action and instigate change for the better. It seems inappropriate, at this time, for long-standing Directors to solely question Mr. Covezzi’s candidacy and only suggest a time consuming headhunt search or an inappropriate candidate, as an alternative solution.
We should be grateful to the new directors who have spent months trying to contact a fugitive accountant, trying to make sense of the accounts while chasing statements never properly filed and who have spent countless hours on reconciling past errors and previous mismanagement. It would be unfair for them to continue alone when there is an appropriate candidate available now.
Kind regards.
Fabris

Thank you all for your prompt responses.

I completely agree that the ideal scenario is to have the new board member as someone that we know and trust, in addition to actually be living in the building. However, I'm afraid that I'm not aware that we have an alternative candidate that fits this description.
Given all the actions that need to take place in the next few months and the upcoming resignation of Mrs. Mocatta, I believe that we need to strengthen the Board now. I will be traveling a lot on business before year end, and to have an additional Board member to share the responsibilities is quite essential.
Therefore I would recommend we move ahead with Mr. Covezzi, unless there is a better alternative now that we can identify/agree on.
Please let me know.

Kind regards

I agree completely – and I also agree everything needs sorting before more “washing our dirty linen” in public;  but I still think there is value in having someone who lives in the block ultimately

Dear Yvonne,

Thank you for your email.

We appreciate and agree on the general idea of considering other candidates together with Mr. Covezzi.

At this delicate stage of transition for the Freehold company, we are not sure it would be wise though.

The Freehold is going to undertake quite few changes and we need, at least until such changes are implemented, all the Board Members to be knowledgeable of the past and recent events and, more importantly, have demonstrated in time to be valuable and trustworthy owners.

New leaseholders, leaseholders with agendas, leaseholders in debt of their fees, etc. could candidate themselves in case we go for the route to “ ask around for candidates”. This kind of candidacies would be cause of concern and will have  to be properly addressed. Are we sure this is the right moment to open also this Pandora box?

Thanks.

Dear All,

I welcome this initiative, however I still think it would be a good idea to see if there is anyone that is a permanent resident in the building who could also help.  I’m not sure of the “status”  (regarding Freehold) of the new people in flat 20.  We can enquire and they might be interested.

It is my intention to resign from both boards when our new flat is complete, as I will then be too far away for day-to-day issues.

Regards,

Yvonne

Dear Fellow Boardmembers,

With the recent resignation of Beatrice, and having in mind the challenges we are facing withiin the next few months, I am taking the opportunity to suggest a new Board Member for your review.

I've met Riccardo Covezzi when he was in London during the summer, when he expressed his interest to become a Board Member and assist with the Freehold. As owner of two properties in the building and with his extensive business experience, Riccardo should be a strong addition to the Board.

I am attaching Riccardo's CV for your review and comments.

Kind regards,

Flavio Cury
