Dear all,

With regards to the refurbishment, please note the following:

The surveyors, Matthews & Son, have submitted the Specifications of Works to the contractor companies on 1st October 2018. I will forward you Harry’s email to the tenders along with the Pre-construction Information.

The deadline for tender submission is Tuesday 16 October.

The revised deadline for works to commence is mid-end November.

I have requested that works commence in the East Wing hallway on the 6th floor (between Flat 37 & 38), so that we may use this area to approve the colours, finish and quality and use this as a gauge for the rest of the building.

I have selected the colours for the flat entrance doors and walls and am working with the vinyl company to get as close a match as possible. They will be making a full-size sample to be applied to one of the doors (front door Flat 37) that we can review in situ before they go into production for the remaining 37 flats. 

With regards to the wall, having considered several options, I personally believe we should stick with polished plaster. It is extremely hard-wearing and rather effective at hiding marks and scuffs etc. It is also cost-effective. Naturally, we will be getting rid of the ghastly blood orange colour.

Harry’s email to tenders which I will send you shortly includes time-frames, but for quick reading I have included it below:

Vinyl Revolution (flat entrance doors) approx. time frames; Based on 39no doors – 5 days
Polished Plaster (walls) – approx. time frame; dependent on program and work method 4-5 days per wing
Marble Shine (floor cleaning) 2-3 weeks work

Please note that there will be preparatory work ahead of this, especially with regards to the cracking on the walls either side of the lift shaft on floors 1- 6 on the East Wing.

On Tuesday 9th October Marble Shine will be carrying out some sample works in the main lobby as well as the sixth floor East Wing. They will be sampling two different proposed methods. (For further information, please see Marble Shine Quotation Reference attached).
