Hi,

Was aware of this from Anna. She also told me the buttons were too hot to touch.

Think you are absolutely right to draw this to Freehold attention and cc board and WB19.

Also think you should add something about the level of negligence in not repairing with new up to date technology especially in the light of Grenfell only two years ago.

Gather the wedding was a super success and gorgeous. Am so pleased.

Nice weekend,

Best

Yvonne

Dear Flavio,

Today I received this email from Mr. James Arwin-Jones.

He is Laura`s fiancee` and he is a surgeon working in a leading London hospital. He is obviously used to work under a lot of pressure and, therefore, he managed to stay calm in such an unfortunate situation and to think at the best course of actions. Furthermore, being a young man, he managed to open ajar the inner doors only due to his physical strength.

One can only imagine the consequences for anyone else trapped in such unpleasant/dangerous situation.

We are confident that the Freehold Board will be able to address this lift issue ASAP.

Kindest regards

Dear Antonella,

Unfortunately on Wednesday I was stuck in the lift at 1 Warrington Gardens. I know that there are several lifts and I'm not sure how to describe each one - other than I was visiting flat 21.

On my descent in the lift it jarred to a stop between floor 2 and floor 1. I pressed the emergency alarm button in the lift, which is supposed to connect occupants with OTIS (the company that looks after the lifts), at which point it seemed to call the company but to no answer (this was in the early evening so not at a ridiculous hour!). Unfortunately there is no mobile phone service in the lift, which meant I couldn't call the porter, and after one attempt at calling OTIS all of the buttons in the lift ceased to function, meaning I couldn't try calling them again. As you can imagine, this left me in a very difficult situation, with no service to call the porter and no option to call OTIS.

I was able to prise open the inner door of the lift in order to get phone signal and call the porter. He was then aware of the situation and made arrangements to call the company, but mentioned this could take up to 45 minutes. The outer door of the lifts were extremely difficult to open due to locking mechanisms at the very top of each door. Luckily I was able to open the mechanism for the doors to level 1 and manoeuvre a way out.

I think it is extremely lucky that I was in the lift and not someone who was unable to prise open two sets of heavy doors, use a mobile phone, as well as squeeze out. The system in place for lift faults clearly failed dramatically, and at no point did I feel confident that there was a safe and clear protocol in place. I hope in the future this can be addressed.

Best wishes,

James
